DESCRIPTION: Bad To The Boone aka “Boone” is a 5yr old gelding from the Devils garden HMA gathered in November of 2020. Boone stands at about 15-15.1hh and is absolutely gorgeous!
Boone is UTD on, vaccinations 3/10/21 teeth floated 4/28/21 and feet trimmed 6/5/21. Boone has really nice big strong feet! Boone was a very tough horse to start he was extremely scared! But since we picked him up 3/10 he has accomplished so much! Boone, clips, ties, trailers (will sometimes hesitate, but will get in) saddles, bridles, lunges, fly sprays- (will also need work on this) good for his bath and will load in a wash rack! good for the farrier, but can be a bit stubborn to pick up his feet. Once you have them no problem, but he can be a bit stubborn. Boone was a little bit behind as far as riding goes.
Since I last posted and updated Boone now has 25 rides and is doing excellent! With every ride he just gets better and better and has proven what a good mind he has during our filming process for the competition. Boone walks, trots, lopes (soooo smooooth) stops, backs, side passes and has the start to a spin, he also nice canter departs! Boone has also worked on obstacles and done well with those as well. Boone has been ridden english only once though, and bareback a few times. None of that seem to phase him and he just went around like it was no big deal!
Boone has also been to a covered arena (he was amazing) and will also hit the trails this weekend as well as all of next week. I expect him to be absolute super star! He has also been started on Liberty and I think will excel at it! That being said Boone is still very green and only has 25 rides on him. He will most likely need a experienced person to be as successful as possible or someone working with a good trainer. I do eventually think one day he will be able to probably be ridden by anyone, but he’s just not there yet. He can still be a watchy about things, but has never done anything crazy.
Boone has not been turned out with other horses at my place. He has been tied next to them with no issues and stalled next to them with no issues as well. He will pin his ears if one comes up while A human is in the picture, but I actually think he’s being protective. However I don’t really know and I haven’t pushed him to find out, how he would be. He’s definitely a more whoa than go kinda guy, although a bit sensitive abs felt. Which we love!
What I love about him is when you ask him he will try his hardest to do it! He’s all heart and aims to please. I think Boone would be good and could do just about anything. I don’t think he’s going very fast so probably not going to be a barrel horse, but I’m sure you could absolutely have fun with him at play days. I think he would do well as a ranch rider, trail horse, obstacle challenge horse, working equitation, or even some English and lower level dressage!
Plans for Boone this weekend and following week are trail, cows, and if we have time potentially his first live show! For more updates feel free to call or txt me at (909)731-7360 Boone had now been exposed to cows which he loved, rode down in Norco riverbed crosses water no problem, and rode on the busy Norco all of which he has only been exposed to once. He handled everything so well and like had done it a million times! Links to videos will be added below! Good luck and happy bidding!
