Joaquin is willing to learn and accept a human as his leader if allowed time to process the request. He’s and quick learner and has overcome so much in a short time. He was rounded up in December 2020 because his range was devastated in a range fire and his herd was starving and without water sources. When I picked him from the herd at the Boise, ID corrals, he was bottom of the pecking order in the herd. To say he was terrified at first would be an understatement. But with trust and time, he has overcome this and now trusts me with his life. I’m so proud to have been able to give him a solid foundation! He’s easy to catch, lead, and load. He picks up all four feet and has shoes on all four. He also ties, bathes, lounges, jumps over barrels, does obstacles and bridges, crosses water, rides at a walk, trot, and lope, and will two track and sidepass. I open/closed gates, roped a dummy, drug logs, carried a flag, and worked other colts on him. He rides in Joaquim snaffle or a shank bit, has been ridden bareback at a and walk trot, backs through serpentines, does a basic spin, and stops on dime. He’s a true legend of a mustang and a credit to wild horses of America!
