DESCRIPTION: Approximate Height in Hands – 15hh
Kizzie is a 6-year-old chestnut mare from Little Owyhee HMA. She stands 15hh with good bone, wide chest, great hip, nice feet, and straight legs. She likes people and kids and has a sweet, inquisitive nature. She is extremely smart and has a good mind. It took a couple of weeks to get first touch, but as soon as she allowed me into her “bubble,” it was all clear sailing. She loves to learn new things and once she gets it, she has it. She was very accepting of the saddle and never offered to buck. In-hand, Kizzie pivots both directions, sidepasses, backs, and yields her hindquarters. It is easy to catch and halter her even in the pasture, and she is learning to ground tie. She also patiently stands tied on the fence and loves going over obstacles. I have not taken her on a trail ride, but she loves exploring new areas here at the ranch. Bridges, tarps, poles, plywood do not phase her at all. Kizzie has the most incredible long trot, and is learning to stay level. She has the same skills under saddle as in-hand: sidepass, pivot, back, yield hindquarters. I have hauled her quite a bit, and she has been a rockstar every single time. I tested her skills on cows in a sorting pen and she locked on the cows and tracked them out of the pen. Vet trips are not an issue even with loud barking dogs and horses acting up around her. Even though I think she will be a unicorn, she has things she needs to work on. She has always been a bit claustrophobic. She hesitates walking into stocks, but not into a stall or down a breezeway. She loads in the trailer, both stock trailer and living quarters, but she may be nervous and antsy when the divider closes. She picks up her feet, but at this point, she still pulls her foot away from the farrier. Kizzie can also be a little pushy and try to get into your space. Kizzie is an incredible horse. She has the size to rope a calf, the athletic ability to work a cow, the conformation to turn heads in the show pen, and the heart to take care of you on a trail. Like all 120-day horses, she needs someone to lovingly continue her training, but this horse can take you anywhere and turn heads doing it.
